(Beijing, December 3) The "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Trampoline Gymnastics International Invitational Tournament came to an end at the National Indoor Stadium on December 3, with China's Ye Shuai and Ukraine's Olena Movchan winning the men's and women's events respectively.

The four-day event attracted almost all the top gymnasts from across the world, including seven of the top eight from the recent World Championships. In the men's qualifying round on the opening day of the tournament, however, a number of veterans, including world runner-up Dong Dong of China, got eliminated, to the surprise of all.

The women's qualification went on smoothly except that Irina Karavaeva, this year's world champion from Russia, unexpectedly bowed out on a blunder.

Contrary to the women's qualification, the women's final saw China's top seed Huang Shanshan, bronze medalist from the World Championships and a hot favorite for the title, finishing a disappointing seventh place after making a terrible mistake. While Rosannagh Maclennan of Canada and He Wenna of China, second and fourth in the world fixture, ended up with a silver and a bronze, the gold medal went to Olena Movchan, a dark horse from Ukraine.

After the chaos in the qualification, the men's final resumed its normal order, when world champion Ye Shuai of China emerged the winner, followed by world bronze-medalist Ueyama Yasuhiro of Japan and Dmitry Ushakov of Russia.

In spite of its ups and downs over the past three days, the 2007 Trampoline Gymnastics International Invitational Tournament turned out to be a success, through which the athletes had a feel of the future Olympic venue and the local organizers got to know where to improve for next year's Olympic Games.
