The rhythmic gymnastics tournament follows the badminton tournament which finished on 14, October, and once again a high-quality service can be expected by both journalists and athletes courtesy of the media operation team. However, with given changes, some preparations and adjustments have been made to meet the sports'needs.

Rhythmic gymnastics is obviously very different from badminton. In the badminton tournament, most athletes were Chinese, so there was no specific requirement for language. For this coming rhythmic gymnastics tournament, the athletes come from a variety of different countries and language services will therefore be more diverse. Therefore, the serving staff should have a good command of language. The diverse languages also present some difficulties for the service at the press conferences. In order to deal with the possible difficulties, the media operation staff has designed a complex yet uncomplicated setup, in which there will be eight athletes and five interpreters. Among the eight athletes, six will be gold medals holders; the other two will be silver and bronze representatives. As for the interpreters, one is for English, one is for Chinese and the other three are for the successful teams’ languages respectively. The media operation staff are well prepared for the any possible difficulties.

What is more, it is still tougher for the service in the mixed zone. In the rhythmic gymnastics tournament, there will be more athletes passing through this area at any given time. If it is the individual competition, six competitors will walk through and if it is the group competition, there will be sixty competitors. So the media operation staff will try to meet their demand to the larger extent, providing a good language service and keeping the order.

It is cold in winter in Beijing, so some clients need hot water. Therefore, two kettles are offered in the dinning zone. Moreover, in order to meet different needs of the clients, the school provides fridges in press workroom and photo room. This will better serve the clients, a symbol of human touch.

One journalist from Canada needed accommodation, which is the first accommodation requirement in the venue. Rare as it is, the media operation staff have met the need and arranged a shuttle bus for this journalist specially. As Manager Yuan said, “Where there is need, there is service.” This is a vivid sentence to embody the media operation service.
