Olga Kapranova gains individual A-A gold

(Beijing, December 7) Ukrainian Anna Bessonova's big fault in the hoop sent her Russian counterpart Olga Kapranova to the victor's podium of the individual all-around of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Rhythmic Gymnastics International Invitational Tournament held at Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium this afternoon. Aliya Garayeva of Azerbaijan took the bronze while China's Ding Yidan placed at the bottom.
Ranking third in the rope qualification on the opening day, Aliya Garayeva kept her form in the final as she gave full play to her talent of flexibility, dancing to the music of Jamaica and getting 17.525 in rope for third with a total of 69.775.
Anna Bessonova, in her final today, was deducted 0.4 for failing to make an easy toss and catch movement and only got 15.625 to be content with silver.
Olga Kapranova, top finisher in all the four individual rounds, didn't give any opportunities to her opponents today, particularly in club, as she combined dance and acrobatics with grace to gain 18.525, 0.05 higher than her leading score in club qualification, for an early leader position.
China's Ding Yidan gave an impressive performance in the event of ribbon. With the music of Better Man, she completed a series of 1080° rotations to earn 16.100 for a 10th place with 65.400 on aggregate.
Spain's Almudena Cid and Israelite Irina Risenson evened at 65.400. Boasting the higher execution score, Cid was finally ranked sixth with Risenson seventh.
