National Indoor Stadium open to the public
(Beijing, November 28) The National Indoor Stadium is open to the public for the first time on Nov. 28, 2007 as the venue for the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Artistic Gymnastics International Invitational Tournament. Following are comments on this brand-new venue made by gymnasts, spectators and the media who had come to the stadium on the opening day of the tournament:
Cheng Fei (women's vaulting horse world champion of China): The stadium is good and pretty adaptable except the lighting, which remains to be improved.
Jiang Yuyuan (uneven bars champion of the 2007 World Cup Shanghai leg): Both the venues for training and competition were built for the convenience of the participants, and the apparatuses are handy.
Federica Macrì(woman gymnast of Italy): Being the site for the Olympic Games next year, the venue is great and very comfortable. "To my surprise, there are so many spectators at the scene," she added.
Some spectators said it was bright inside the venue and easy to find their seats while a few complained it was a bit too warm.
To sports photographers the lighting facilities here were also satisfactory. As to where to improve for the stadium, a sportswriter thought it was a little bit inconvenient for him to pass through the firebreak with many iron gates from the media center up to the stands.
