Lu Bin snatches pommel horse gold in convincing fashion

(Beijing, December 1) China's Lu Bin posted a convincing win of the men's pommel horse final of the 2007 Artistic Gymnastics International Invitational Tournament at the National Indoor Stadium this evening. Kim Soomyun of Korea and Ilie Daniel Popescu of Romania placed No.2 and 3 respectively.

China, Korea and Romania each had two competitors entering the final with the other two coming from Russia and Japan. Korean Kim Jihoon was the first to perform, but committed a big fault for falling off the horse. 

Chinese Lu Bin scored 9.175 on a final-high 6.400 basic to win the gold with 15.575, leading the second by 0.475. His teammate Lu Bo, who took a 5.800 optional in the final, gained 9.125 to place fifth with 14.925 on aggregate.

Kim Soomyun of Korea pocketed 9.000 on a 6.100 base to take the silver, 0.005 ahead of Romanian Ilie Daniel Popescu.
