(Beijing, December 1) Cheng Fei stepped onto the gold podium of the women's floor exercise with 15.275 points at the 2007 Artistic Gymnastics International Invitational Tournament at the National Indoor Stadium this evening. The silver and bronze went to Americans Bridget Sloan and Chellsie Memmel respectively.

Cheng conservatively chose a 6.200 optional in the final. In spite of several unbalanced landings while performing tumbling series, the experienced Cheng still controlled the rhythm thanks to her talents of flexibility and agility, earning 9.075 to be the first.

Bridget Sloan, who chose a 5.900 optional, the lowest of the top three place finishers, did a good job in virtuosity showcase and settled for second with 14.925. Her teammate Memmel scored 8.625 on a 6.100 basic to take the bronze with 14.725.

China's Jiang Yuyuan, winner of the women's individual all-around, came up against two errors as she staggered after the second tumbling series in addition to a two-foot outside landing which cost her 0.300. As a result, Jiang had to be content with a fifth place with 14.600.
